At Coastal Community Builders (CCB), we believe in the power of education and the impact that early career exposure can have on the next generation of industry professionals.
That’s why, on Friday, October 11th, we partnered with the Santa Barbara County Education Office’s Career Technical Education (CTE) program to host the “Teacher Tours” at our Skyview Estates development in Santa Maria.
The CTE program bridges the gap between the classroom and the real world by connecting educators with local leaders in various career paths. The goal? To equip teachers with knowledge about the skills, certifications, and career opportunities available here on the Central Coast. This helps educators provide students with relevant insights into industries like construction, energy, environment, and utilities.
On this tour, we welcomed teachers from the Building and Construction and Energy, Environment, and Utilities sectors, as well as Molly Schiff, Director of Advocacy & Initiatives, to learn more about the work we do at Coastal Community Builders. The discussion was led by Ron Daniels, Construction Manager, with support from Jose Silva, Project Manager, and Dustin Thompson, Project Manager, providing a deeper understanding of CCB’s core values and the various career opportunities available in the construction industry.
Ron Daniels shared how CCB provides an environment where employees can grow and develop professionally. A perfect example is our very own Jose Silva, who began his career with us just three years ago as a detail laborer. Through his hard work and dedication, Jose has since become a successful Project Manager, showcasing the upward mobility that is possible within CCB.
The tour continued with a walkthrough of Skyview Estates, where the teachers explored several completed homes, toured a nearly finished home, and gained insights into our Quality Checking process. Ron provided a comprehensive overview of the construction stages, pointing out how progress is visible as homes move through various phases of completion across the community.
Skyview Estates, located in the heart of Santa Maria, is a prime example of the thoughtful, community-driven homes CCB builds on the Central Coast. Our developments are designed to blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of the region while offering modern, high-quality living.
To wrap up the tour, the group returned to the model home for refreshments and engaging conversations. It was a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas, share insights, and foster a deeper connection between education and industry.
At CCB, we’re proud to support programs like Teacher Tours, helping educators inspire the next generation of professionals in our local communities. By working together, we can continue to build not only homes but also strong, vibrant futures.
